Shrewsbury is the county town of Shropshire and is a fine example of a Tudor town, with many black & white buildings. The town's history reaches right back to the Norman conquest, and the castle and abbey are well worth a visit. There are plenty of opportunities for shopping in Shrewsbury, with many independent as well as high street shops.
Ludlow is the gastronomic capital of Shropshire, and famous for its food & drink festival held every September. The town holds regular events throughout the year, many of which are held in the castle. Ludlow Castle is a medieval ruin, but once held Royal court sessions. Prince Arthur, elder brother of King Henry VIII lived here briefly with his wife Catherine of Aragon - later to become Henry VIII's first wife.
